Kägwerks announces award of SBIR 21.1, Next Generation Wearables

CAMAS, Wash. – (August 21, 2021) – Kägwerks, a company developing a range of operator-designed, body-worn communications gear and systems, has announced the award of the DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH (SBIR) PROGRAM 21.1, Next Generation Wearables, direct to Phase II.

Winning this Award is a testimony to Kägwerks strong position as a leader in tactical cases and communications gear.  Building on their rugged cases, cables, and recent deployment of a DOCK Lite (Dismounted Operator Combat Kit) platform, the outcome of this SBIR will result in advanced capabilities of the SOCOM Operator and JTAC War Fighter, including the backbone for critical information security, situational awareness, communications, battery/power and data management, low-cost cabling, and edge computing.

Kägwerks, in partnership with Viasat, will also showcase Viasat’s net agility and other emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Facial Recognition, 5G and COTS integrated solutions. The development and integration of these technologies will also serve as a springboard to commercial applications within the emergency management/disaster response, wildland firefighting, federal law enforcement, energy, and industrial sectors by bringing secure communications, situational awareness, and edge computing technology to frontline responders.
